Regulations for the guards to the Virgin in Almonte | Update 2022

The Brotherhood https://hermandadmatrizrocio.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/exhibition-gallery-item-5-1.jpg of Our Lady of El Rocío, will resume the guards to the Virgin next Saturday, February 19. For which we will contact those who were already signed up when they were suspended as of March 14, 2020 and were unable to attend.

Following the guidelines already set out in previous “Venidas de la Virgen”, we reflect the Regulations applicable to the guards, in order to organize them and establish a reasonable development framework for them, which will contribute to their better fulfillment:

1º.- All persons who wish to stand guard with the Virgin, will have to sign up at the headquarters of the Brotherhood https://hermandadmatrizrocio.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/exhibition-gallery-item-5-1.jpg (C / Sebastian Conde, 4-6), Monday through Thursday, from 17:00 to 20:00 hours. To do so, they must provide photocopy of ID card, address, telephone number, as well as the signed consent of compliance with the L.O.P.D. which will be collected at the Brotherhood itself.

  • The period to sign up for the shifts will be from Monday, February 21 until Thursday, February 24, for shifts starting March 9. Since the previous days, from February 19, will be covered by the groups that had already booked them in 2020.

2º.- Vacancies occurring after the closing of the duty group in the calendar may not be replaced.

3º.- The guards will be carried out in the benches of the naves of the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, being obligatory the use of the mask.

4º.- A person can sign up several people for a watch, as long as he/she provides the respective accrediting identity documents, as indicated in the first point.

5º.- A maximum of twelve people may be on duty each day. Children under 12 years of age shall not be counted in the number of people on duty.

6º.- Any person who has already performed a watch loses preference over another person who has not performed any.

7º.- The following persons may stand guard:

  1. The people of Almonte and their spouses (It is considered born in Almonte up to the second degree descendants, normally children and grandchildren).
  2. The brothers and sisters of our Brotherhood https://hermandadmatrizrocio.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/exhibition-gallery-item-5-1.jpg.
  3. Persons residing or registered in Almonte prior to January 1, 2014. In the latter case, there will be a maximum of two people per guard.

8º.- The Brotherhood https://hermandadmatrizrocio.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/exhibition-gallery-item-5-1.jpg will program two open guards, in which all the people who wish to participate will be able to do so, since the Parish of Ntra. Sra. de la Asunción will remain open all night.. They will be held on March 26 and April 30, 2022.

9º.- In addition to the guard carried out by the people of Almonte in the traditional way, in the Parish will remain installed an electronic surveillance equipment, through security cameras, which will be permanently connected, and the participants must authorize the recording of images.

10º.- The guards are made in a sacred place and their purpose is to worship the Blessed Virgin and the Divine Shepherd, and to watch over their safety and integrity. The person in charge of leading the group during the watches and whose instructions must be followed at all times is the Santero on duty. In it, the elementary rules of worship and veneration of the sacred images, which are exposed to worship, and especially the tabernacle, where the Lord is reserved, will be observed at all times.

Restrictive and responsible use of mobile devices shall be made while on duty.
