Two days ago the Virgin of El Rocío returned to her Shrine and is now ready to celebrate a new Pentecost Pilgrimage, the reunion of so many rocieros in the village of Almonte. Dressed as Queen, enthroned in the processional processions that a week ago premiered in the extraordinary procession of farewell through the streets of his people.
The Blanca Paloma wears the costume made by the embroidery workshop of the Hermandad Matriz in 2015. It is a terno composed of a bodice, bodice, sleeves, over sleeves and the child’s costume. The mantle is known as the “Pentecost”, made in the embroidery workshop of Santa Barbara, in 2011.
The Virgin and Child wear the 1919 crowns of their canonical coronation. The bursts are the hammer point ones, in gilded silver, 1949. The flowers are bouquets of daisies, poppies, jasmine and lavender.
As premieres, the Virgin carries a scepter made of gold and ivory, enriched with pearls, amethysts, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. The scepter of the Pastorcito is matching, and an orb, both made in the workshop of the Delgado Brothers; gift of the artist Manuel Lombo. She also wears a new silver brooch with the name of Rocío on the crescent moon, donated by our sister Luz María Acosta.
Tomorrow Wednesday the Matriz Brotherhood will celebrate its Romeros Mass, at 10 am from the Alto del Molinillo before setting out on the road to the village, where it will arrive at dusk to live a new pilgrimage that will officially begin next Friday, June 3, after two years without being celebrated from the Sanctuary.
